Wearing my new creation at Fashion Week Mexico

4:00 AM Prueba 2 Comments

As I stated in the last post, Fashion week was a CRAZY week (sorry for the redundance),Fashion shows, homework, exams and debates were all at the same time so sadly I couldn't attend to the second day of Fashion Week, but I sure enjoyed the third one.
For the ones following me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram you probably know I like little DIY projects and I found a beautiful houndstooth fabric at my grandma's house in january, so I thought I could make a cape out of it... and so I did.
I really liked it, an oversized houndstooth printed cape; It looked edgy and cool but I never thought it could become a multipurpose garment. Playing around in my closet It somehow occure to me to tie the cape as a dress and for my surprise, it looked amazingly chic and classy.
With a new gown and burgundy lips I was excited to take over MBFWMX again.
Black, White & Burgundy

Asymmetrical shapes on the red carpet

Bare back, asymmetrical and black&white with a print that for centuries has represented class and elegance.

Soon more adventures from Fashion week, stay tuned!
Thanks for stopping by!

Fashion Week Mexico... The Beginning

9:16 PM Prueba 0 Comments

It was that time of the year again where all fashion lovers, bloggers, journalists, models and extravaganzas came together to get to know the latest trends and collections from great & talented designers!
Going to Fashion Week is one of the things I love the most and the first day is the most exciting one, still a  bit sad, because you know those 4 perfect days will fly!
You take photos, stroll glamorously around the place ... and heels remind you how much fun you had  when you take them off ... right?
But for me it's all worth it!

A floral dress in nude shades and a pair of beautiful purples ankle strap shoes, that apart from being adorable are extremely comfortable, were chosen to join me that day.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week FW13-14 started the 15th of April at 5 o´clock with Pineda Covalin´s show.
This Mexican brand is famouse worldwide, because of its style always remaining forefront.
The show started in a very original way with a dance number and then wonderful  fresh silhouettes in vibrant colors and typical Mexican patterns filled the runway  as a perfect start for fashion week.

The next presentation was by Lorena Saravia in "The Box". This designer presented a palette of colors from black to burgundy using lots of leather, which is very much in trend this season.
Speaking a little of The Box, in my opinion is a concept that developed nicely and lets people see and interact with clothes in a different atmosphere, as it can be dull to see clothes always on the catwalk.

Summer skin!

We walked for a while in the lobby and enjoyed a drink before it was time for TRISTA; Dfinitely one of the shows I eagerly expected. In my posts about MBFWMX last edition I told you that I had been really impressed by the process these brand submitts it's fabrics and achieves a very cool, effortless chic style.
This time was not the exeption with their new collection called "The Vision of the lost fantastic territory". As an extension of the previous season, the silhouette were focused on loose clothing with a strong emphasis on the planks overlap asymmetries and fabrics.

Don't you love that print?

Alexia Ulibarri with her collection "Daphne's Tale" came after TRISTA's parade and was inspired by the romance of the century and the enigmatic nocturnal elements. The designer created a contemporary women's collection in a color palette ranging from pearl to silver and navy. "It was a weird dream, a world of unknown redemption, sitting there while looking into a brighter path ..." is what she says owl that creates your reality and was the inspiration for this collection.

The feminine silhouettes with lolita inspiration so characteristic of this designer got a little darker and were accompanied with glitter stockings that looked as if they had been sprinkled with stardust ...
ok I'm kind of corny, I admit, but it was the first thing I thought when I saw them and I liked them so much I even dreamed about them .. hihihihi

So basically this is how last week started!
I´m sorry I didn´t write everything sooner, but this weeks have been crazy and I just couldn´t find the time!

Be sure to pass by My Vintage Armoire to see the rest of my days at MBFWMx

Colombian Talent arrives...

4:30 AM Prueba 0 Comments

I love to go with my family to Polanco on the weekends. Rocking a dress and nice stilettos threw  Masaryk and its imposing shops and restaurants just makes me feel as if I were in a movie surrounded by the chic atmosphere of the city.
Passing "polanco passage"and in front of Brassi, one of the most amazing restaurants in whichchicken breast stuffed with goat cheese and orange sauce is unprecedented .... Is Mercedes Salazar new jewelry boutique.
It is a place that instantly attracts attention, You´ll be in love with the variety of charms and designs that can be appreciated in the momento that you enter!

What I find incredible and distinctive of these pieces is that they all have a meaning which makes them not only beautiful charms, but also personal amulets.

One of my favorites, is a bracelet with a coin engraved with a crown in the middle.
It also has a little card that says, it is a bracelet for all women with an inner princesses who are beautiful, smart and full of other virtues.
Well, that's what I remember and the message conveyed to me. The beautiful thing is that each person can interpret this positive message differently.

I was speaking the other day about many people who think products from other countries are better than those made in their own. I thinks that is a bit the way we think about indigenous products.
I admire the fact that Mercedes Salazar uses bracelets made by indigenous Colombians, garnish them with crystals and chains and makes the more modern and sophisticated without losing their style and origin.

As I already said I felt in love with this designers work and there was no question about me having to contact her and ashs her work.
Here our little interview:
How did your career as a designer began?
I´ve always been very creative. I can draw with any pen on the wall, a paper or a napkin mixing colors and forms. So,  deciding to take a career were I have the ability to express myself through materials was very easy.

What inspires you while designing your pieces?
I am inspired by life, small stories that adorn our daily lives, treasures that I find on my tripsindigenous handicrafts and trends.

What kind of woman wears your pieces?
Funny, cheerful, modern and authentic women.

What is your favorite piece?
It's a mini gold skull which has become my amulet.

All your creations have a special meaning, and many are saints ... What is the role of spirituality in your designs?
I feel that jewelry connects people with the universe, that´s why I feel amulets protect you.
Wonderful designer and really nice woman I would like to thank Mercedes for answering this questions. Hopefully we´ll meet one day!
I really encourage you guys to go check the boutique!

Fashion Week Mexico is coming...

3:51 PM Prueba 0 Comments

Mexican Fashion.
Lot´s of you might say there´s not such thing or is not as imortant as fashion in other parts of the world. I truly love being aware of international extraodinaire talent  seen for example in Balenciaga, Valentino, Dior, Moschinno, Marc Jacobs or Chanel. It´s normal that we as fashion lovers try to consume as much fashion as we can, but why don´t start by knowing, buying and supporting the Mexican fashion industry.
Mexican society has a strong and wrong concept that tends to put products made in their country below products of other nationalities.
That's the thing about fashion, many people believe that Mexican fashion industry hasn´t got good quality or design, when in fact there´s a lot of talent we should start to appreciate.

And to help us meet these talents, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Mexico was created as the first platform to help these purpose.
Backed by one of the most famous and powerful brands in the world such as Mercedes Benz, this platform is responsible for supporting the design industry in cities where this industry is developing, cities like Seoul, Moscow, Berlin and Mexico!
It is also the platform where the biggest amount of designers are brought in an incredible atmosphere!
This year there will be new features like "The Box" as I lived in Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin (Here)

"The Box" is a black colored hall where a group of models are standing, for use to see the clothing as if we where an art gallery.
There is No front row or assigned places so respect is required to make it a very pleasant experience. It´ll also be the first time in which the people attending the shows will be able to know the designers in person and talk with them about their inspirations and fashion influences. AMAZING right?

MBFashionWeek is a platform which is always trying to make these talents succeed threw programmes like "Fashion forward" and that´s just great.

Fall Winter 13-14 collections will be shown next week on April the 15t to the 18th on the great Carpa Santa Fe.
Some of (my favourite) the designers that will be showing their collections are  Alexia Ulibarri, JI+B, Alejandro Carlin, Julia y Renata, and many more that I´m sure will blow our minds with their beautiful designs. I´m looking forward to see the collections and chat with some of my favorite Mexican designers.

Here the oficial Schedule:

Hope to see you there!

I'm in love with Kiehl's

4:14 PM Prueba 0 Comments

Hey guys! I hope you are enjoying your holidays....
As you already know, Wednesdays are all about "Beauty tips" and home remedies that help us look perfect.
But if we truly want to stay fresh, young and beautiful we also need to cleanse, tone, moisturize and occasionally use some booster treatments to help us keep our skin in latter conditions and control brightness and dryness.

Some products have chemicals and might affect our skin by producing allergies, acne or other problems, but do not panic.......
There is Kiehl's, an incredible brand I want to talk to you about, which I got to know a bit more on Tuesday at a little brunch with ClubELLE as their second event of the year.
Delicious welcoming latte!
YUM!
Kiehl's was founded in 1851 as an old world apothecary in NYC in the East Village neighborhood.

All their products are natural and created  based in  cosmetic, pharmaceutical, herbal and medicinal knowledge. That means there are perfect products for every skin type! Isn't that great?

I found very interesting the fact that the brand grew just as the family... It all started with women products then when the Kiehls had a son, men products started to be manufactured until today, when Mr. Kiehl´s daughter started horseback riding and now the brand has even horse soap.

I really like the service, because you get a personal advicer who chooses the perfect products according to your skin type and needs. You are also given free samples to try the products, convince yourselfs and see if it actually works.
I know it migh sound "too good", but I was really impressed by the quality and the feeling of freshness in my skin after using some of their products.
with Nicolas Montecchi Palazzi Kiehl’s Director
Hopefully I might have encourage you to try Kiehl's.

Appearances are deceiving: Frida Kahlo

12:00 PM Prueba 0 Comments

"Las apariencias engañan: los vestidos de Frida Kahlo" is the original name of these exhibition of the clothing from one of the women with more presence and influence in the world.

Frida was a woman who suffered a lot when she was young...she had a disease that left her with one leg shorter than the other. This forced her to wear heels that were higher on the right foot.

To hide these and secondly to honor the origins of her mother, she began to wear the typical vestiment of the tehuanas consisting of long skirt and blouse.

She also adopted the famous braids and flowers which together with her outfit and unibrow present in her self-portraits, became her seal.

All this seems very interesting to me, because many people believe that fashion is something banal when in fact fashion serves and represents many things, like personality, character, culture, history and in this case served to disguise the "defects" of this woman that in the eyes of the world ... fully accepted hers.
D&G used her as inspiration

October of 1937 marked an important step for the influence this amazing lady with strong
character and great talent would have on the world of fashion, when the American edition of Vogue presented her for he first time in its pages.
Frida and her style became the sensation among European elite. It is said that the famous Elsa Shiaparelli created a dress called "La Robe Madame Rivera" in her honor.
Vogue 1937 cover

Here´s  an example of her influence in the exhibition called "Mexican Fashion: Past&Present"
in NYC where 100 indigenous and mestizo costumes from the museum collection of Banca Serfin were showed in 1990.

Frida´s style has inspired many designers nowadays and her presence will always be strong in the fashion industry known as a strong and confident woman.
