Welcome Aéropostale!

This is the year of Mexico!
Barack Obama said it, then Rossana Fuentes Berain the editorial vice president from Grupo Expansión said it again in the season premiere of EMD2013 and we've witnessed it all year.

Mexico is a key market within the global expansion strategy of many brands.
Therefore it was obvious that one of the most important American brands in the world came to our country at some point.
Aéropostale is famous and loved by teenager all over the world for its  comfortable effortless chic clothing and accessories that allow us to look fresh, fun and very cool without doing too much.
I can tell for myself that when I want to look great for school my first option is my Aéropostale polo, a pair of jeans a sweater and a scarf to look cute, classy and stylish in minutes.
Still the Brand didn't start that way. Aéropostale was a pioneer airmail company in the 20's, reason why its first stores in 1987 had a traveling essence.
I was one of the lucky ones to be invited on Friday, July 26 to the most anticipated opening of the summer.
Amazing DJ's like Miguel Dix and Eduardo Rossell were responsible for turning on the lounge where all the guests, with great company, music, snacks and drinks, enjoyed the arrival of the store.
There were lots of people who even arrived at 6am to be among the first in line, do not doubt that some would have thought up in camp there.

Tom Johnson CEO from the Brand and Stephen Patton Brand GM from Aéropostale Mexico gave the opening speech and then revealed the boutique which is adopting a new store concept inspired by the vintage lofts from the big apple.
Tom Johnson and Stephen Patton

Tom Johnson and me
As for this season's collections.
For girls there are many floral prints, over-sized blouses and peplum silhouettes.
What I liked the most were the denim options.

Flowers, flowers and more flowers

Skinny, rolled up, ripped or bootcut there's a great variaty of jeans to choose from.

For the guys  the varsity jacket returns in shades like royal blue and burgundy along with striped cotton shirts and a variaty of jeans too.

You can find this collections not only in the boutique, but also in the Aéropostale corners at Liverpool.
I would like to thank Aéropostale México and Stephen Patton for the invitation as well as congratulate them for the grand opening.
 I had a wonderful time!
Welcome Aéropostal!

Mexico's Next Top Model Gala

BON APRÈS-MIDI mes chers lecteurs!

The Mexican fashion industry is full of talent and just needs a little push to win global attention.
In other words it needs to be revamped, not only with Mexican designer, but with models, stylists, photographers and makeup artists in pursuit of the same dream, just like in the 80's & 90's when we even had our own top models.
And speaking of that, last Thursday I was fortunate to go to the Mexico's Next Top Model Gala which was held on the premises of the Reforma newspaper in Mexico City, where the 4th season of the show was launched.

This time, the program, which will air every Monday from august 19 on Sony entertainment television, will have as its new host the model Jaydy Michel, who along with Glenda Reyna, Oscar Madrazo, Antonio González de Cosío and Allan Fis will try to find the next Mexican supermodel who will not only win the title but also a contract with the model agency Queta Rojas

With Oscar Madrazo, Glenda Reyna & Antonio González de Cosío

To celebrate the occasion a fashion show from my favourite Mexican duo was held.
JI +B presented a beautiful collection called "Sangre Azul" or Blue Blood inspired by the roccoco style.

Flawless silhouettes imposing elegance and class

(See my review on that collection HERE and more of the work from this designers HERE & HERE)
All models were from Queta Rojas and we could even see last year's winner Sahily Cordoba opening the runway coordinated by the judge Antonio González de Cosío.
It was expected that great personalities from the industry attended to an event of this magnitude.
Fernando Toledo, fashion editor from the newspaper was there to welcome everybody.
Models of yesteryear, the makeup artist Eduardo Gaset with his great career, the judges stylist Juan Pablo Martínez, Hector de Anda who was chief editor of Vogue Mexico and fashion coordinator Leonardo Franco were among the guests.

It was a beautiful evening that not only ushered in the new season of the show, but also brought together great fashion personalities.

Beauty Tips: Flawless Hair under Control

10:36 AM Prueba 5 Comments

Are you happy with your hair?
Brunettes want to be blond, blonds want to be brunettes.
Curly want to be sleek and sleek wants to be curly.
The truth is that women are never happy with themselfs and our discontent with our hair is a huge part of that dilemma.

I have curly hair and I like it that way as long as it stays under control, which is sometimes a bit tricky. Humidity and heat can make it look like a jumble and even the most effortless look needs a bit of effort.
We got some welcoming presents at the grand finale from Elle México Diseña 2013 in Acapulco, and one of the best one was a Mythic Oil kit from L'Oreal Paris.

First I thought it would be just another lame hair product... you know, those that swear to give you more shape, volumen and shine but end up living your hair as if you had just showered with glue.
Still I decided to give it a try and for my surprise it work! My curls were defined and under control in the beach's wet weather; that'ts why the Mythic Oil has become essential in my beauty routine.

You can wash your hair with the shampoo to unravel it, then use the mascara to leave it glossy and wait until it dries to see the results...
The Mythic Oil is perfect to apply when your hair is already dry, let's say you have a party and want to revamp your hair for the occasion, you can do it in 5 min with this amazing product!
Don't be afraid about the "Oil" part because your mane won't suffer, it will only leave your hair soft and with a delicious aroma.
This product is for all hair types, doesn't matter if you are blond, brunette or a red head with curls or sleek hair just use the oil to squeeze and crate waves or smoothlly dab to make it sleek with a bit of volumen. It's your choice.
So in the end it dosn't matter what hair color, cut, shape or lenght you have, the Mythic Oil will help you rock it!

I really hope you give it a try, because it will literally change your daily routine for good!
Tell me about your results in the social media!

Hello guys!

I was reading a great book called The Little Black Book of Style from Nina García, where all your questions about fashion are answeared.
From what to wear to a black tie to the rules of wearing animal print, it's is a complete guide and must have for every fashion junky. I liked it so much that I decided to read all her books.
Now, I'm reading The Style Strategy a book which tells you how to use your clothes to the max!

It's summer and I wanted to clean my closets, however when we think about that we are looking for things to donate or give away, not for new ways to wear our clothes.

So, I decided to clean my closet just like Nina García recommends... with music a cold beverage and a new perspective.
While doing so I started to match prints and textures and saw how many garnments I don't wear any more looked amazing together. It was then when I found a pair of souvenir t-shirts.
You know, those t-shirts you buy in a concert or at Harvard Uni but only wear saturdays at home.
I found 3 very cool ones, the first one from the MOMA in NYC with the faces of great painters, the second one from Miami and the third one from Lady Gaga's concert in Mexico city.

The thing about this tees is that non of them have a flattering shape and for that you need to make them pretty.
The Lady Gaga shirt  has a rocker vibe and for that I tought I could wear it with leather leggins, these are a must have because they give every look instant sofistication apart from being very comfy and perfect for this crazy weather.

Oversized necklaces are the best option for this t-shirts, but to complement the rocker look I decided to wear a thick chain.

A black blazer goes with everything and can make a look elegant without looking overdressed.
The tote makes more casual too and a pair of mesh peep toe platforms make a nice statement.

I've been obsessed about cuff rings and rings in general lately, for me the more the better and this from H&M are a true delight, they can be worn in tons of different ways and look all very chic.
The rose bracelet is made by me.. LOVE IT... I might post a tutorial later..

Aviator sunnies/ Ray-Ban
Silver thick chain/ Agatha
Lady Gaga t-shirt/ The Monster Ball Tour 2011
Blazer/ Bebe
Leather leggins/ H&M
Tote/ H&M
Rings/ H&M

Try to apply this system, clean your closet with an open mind and find the way to re-use your clothing.
Read Nina's books, you won't regret it!
For more fashion literature check my selection in the Fashion Library section.

Thanks for stopping by folks!
I'm working on an amazing project right now and hopefully will be able to share it with you guys soon.
Have a nice and fashionable week !!!

Beauty Tips: Givenchy

11:43 AM Prueba 6 Comments

Bonjour mes beautés!
Or good afternoon my beautiful readers!
I hope you are having a great week and this beauty tips help you choose the best products in your next beauty shopping trip.
I don't know if you remember the "Festival de Fragancias y Belleza 2013" from Palacio de Hierro where you could buy a great variaty of quality products from the best brands.
As I told you in the previous post 19 international makeup artists came to the festival to show us their secret in order to look fabulous.

I had the chance to talk with Hocine Zeghichi, internacional makeup artist for a wonderful brand which as he said evokes french class or in his words "chic à la française" does it ring any bells?
Well, for the one's who have been living under a bridge I'm talking about la maison Givenchy.
Givenchy has everything to make a woman look sofisticated and suit her style. One of the biggest proposals this season is to give the lips a leading role. It can be in a natural way with the "#100" family from Le Rouge in neautral tones, with pink shades from the "#200" family or even with the "#300" family which has vibrant colors to make a statement.

Aside from giving your lips a long lasting semi-matte finish and hydrate, Le Rouge blends perfectly with all shades of Le Vernis (nail polish).

One of the makeup artists told me that harmony is another thing givenchy is looking after this season.
Now that women no longer combine their outfits, bags and shoes a little makeup harmony is perfect for any look.

On the one hand it is great to find your favourite products but the recommendation from an expert isn't bad either.
Hocine absolutely loves Mr. Perfect, a corrector for any makeup mistake; it can be a lipstick stain or to much eye shadow, still with this product you can erase it in seconds.
The Givenchy  Phenomen eye mascara  is also his favourite because it creates more volume with the round applicator which grabs lashes from the root.

Hocine thinks every woman should apply a great foundation before starting to play with the color.

This Eclat Mattisime eliminates the shinny effect from your skin to make it more natural, it also has 20 solar protection so you have 2 in one.

Poudre croisiere is his choice to illuminate the face and in order to give the ultimate touch, croisiere lipgloss is the option for a natural and fresh glimpse.

I really love when an expert gives yoou his secrets... and now I'm able to share them with you guys!
Hope you enjoyed it.

In my opinion Le Rouge and Le Vernis are a great proposal as well as the mascara.. (I WANT hihihi)
What's your favourite product from Givenchy?

My Childhood on a pair of suspenders

3:30 AM Prueba 0 Comments

I had pairs in every color and texture.
From green corduroy to denim, overalls comformed a hugh part of my closet when I was a little girl.
I have to accept that now that  I see pictures I thing they looked cute.. but truth is I didn't like them.

I always struggled to unhook them and when I could, I pinched ... yeah clunky as I was, overalls were a nightmare.
Sometimes when hearing those "wow, fashion always comes back..." comments from my mother and grandmother I never expected that overalls ever did.

My hopes were dashed this season, still new fabrics made me curious and leather overalls caught my attention.

My love/hate relationship with overalls has really become an obsession for them.
I have so many ideas of how to combine them that I can't wait to get one.
So, in the end what I learned about this is that fashion always comes back and we should always give it a try.
What do you guys think about overalls?
Let me know!

Beauty Tips from the Editor...

3:30 AM Prueba 0 Comments

Hey Beauties!
It's beauty tips wednesday and to complete yesterday's interview I'd like to share with you the beauty tips from Elle Mexico's beauty editor, Paulina Soto.

From beauty 101 to her summer recomendation, here I present to you the editors tips.

First of all you need to consider your budget for makeup, it's great to buy the latest Chanel, Dior or Armani Lipstick but you don't need to spend tons of money. There are great products for less.

Go to the dermatologist to solve any skin problems, because makeup can't help you sometimes.
Do not criticize yourself, take care and love every stage of your life and skin. From your imperfections in your teenage years to your early wrinkles, all of them are full of stories.
Last but not least Pau wants you guys to remember a very famous quote from Françoise Nars "Have fun. It's only makeup!"

Basics:

-With or without makeup you have to cleanse and wash your face before you go to sleep EVERYDAY.
One's you realize all the dirt, dust and stuff that sticks to your face during the day you'll never go to sleep without doing it.
-Wear sunblock daily, to prevent cancer, spots and premature ageing

Favourite Products:
Clinique "take the day of" makeup remover
Camomile waterproof eye-makeup remover
If you are looking for something practical buy sunblock with foundation included!
(I've tried a great one called "Eau thermale tinted cream" from Avène)

Always be gentle while cleansing to avoid wrinkles.

Pau told me that women should start taking this precautions and cares when they are young so they don't have to worry about liftings and other treatments later.
It seems logic for me that if you have a healthy beauty routine since you are young it'll reflect later on.

Mascara:

-Remove the clumps from the brush with a tissue before applying.
-After applying do the same in your lashes.
-NEVER lend your mascara to avoid infections
-Don't pump the mascara, because it dries and lasts less

Brushes:

-ALWAYS clean your brushes either with neutral soap or a special solution from a cosmetic brand.

Nail Polish

-To protect your nail always apply a layer of basecoat.
-Let your nails breathe at least one day at a week so they don't turn yellow.
-NEVER bite your nails, it looks terrible and your and your nails will

In your bag...

-eye cream
-lip balm
-lipstick
-mascara
-sunblock

Emergency tips
Sometimes we don't have our complete makeup case in our purse and need to get ready for events that arise without warning. That's when being practical comes in handy, because with 2 or 3 things we can get a nice look.
-If looking for blush the best option is to use a bit of your lipstick to get color
-Black eye-shadow can be used as eye-liner and be degraded to create smokey eyes
But still thhe best in those cases is to have a a llttle box with everything, Pau specially likes the ones from benefit which have from a tiny lipgloss to tiny eye-shadow.

In terms of brands Pau trys and also likes lots of them...
When it comes to foundation "Maestro" from Giorgio Armani is her absolutely favourite for leaving her like an inmaculated canvas. Touche Éclat from YSL is her favourite corrector. A pink matte lipstick can't never miss in her bag, because you only need a stroke of color to be perfect and the matte finish gives it a sofisticated touch. Of course, if you are looking for an eye-lash curler you need the iconic one from Shu Uemura.

As for the summer Pau encourages you to play with bright nail polishes and bronzers.

So here it is guys, the tips and secrets from a great beauty editor!
Remember to share, like and comment.
Thanks again to Paulina Soto for everything.

Meeting the Beauty Editor

4:30 AM Prueba 0 Comments

Beloved readers
I would like to talk to you today about a very nice person I've met during this blog journey.
Her name is Paulina Soto and she is the beauty editor of Elle Mexico.

Graphic designer by vocation and color lover, she began working at the magazine exerting her career.
Paui always loved makeup and remembers that when she was a little girl, she used to wait until her mom left the house to use her huge makeup box.

While looking images for the magazine, looking the ones for the beauty section is what she liked the most. Specially thinking about how she could present them in a fun and innovative way; for example she told me, that one of her recent spreads was inspired in Mondrian and she tryed to represent his work in new ways like using nail polish.

After a while Pau left the magazine to study a degree in communication and fashion journalism as a master of fashion and always knew that if she ever returned to the magazine it would be to the beauty department.

It seems like her dream was meant to be, because when she returned the former beauty editor quit and the editor in chief Mari Paz Ocejo thought she would be great for the job!

Now that she has her dream job what Paulina likes the most apart from that "kid in a candy store" feeling she gets everyday when she receives new products to try, are the shootings where she meets many talented people, gets to explode her creativity and have fun with makeup.

Learning about the story of iconic products is also her passion, you can read her latest article about Chanel No.5 in the July issue from Elle.

Now what we all want to know her beauty tips, rules, basics, do's & don'ts and favourite products and for that you'll have to check the beauty tips section tomorrow!

I'm really happy to have the chance to meet and interview great people like Pau. I had a great time!

PS. Thanks for the card and nail polishes Pau, it was a beautiful gesture!

                                                                                                  Xoxo, Roberta W.P.F
