Discount's Antidote

SALES ... 1 word with 5 letters that can make any fashion lover's heart beat a little faster.
Who doesn't love them? It's the perfect opportunity to reinvent your closet and treat yourself a little by a paying a great amount less for that purse you craved the whole season or by buying 20 things by the price of two. (You can score great deals on E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G!)

Nevertheless its quite easy to get a little crazy and get caught in the sales fever.
I personally find those red sale tags intimidating.
You enter the store, go through the section of "new collection" that is ghost town empty, to encounter
a wild jungle with no rules, no diplomacy, glamor or poise.
The first one to take it has the right to keep it and by that command you have to be very organized or have a faithful commpanion to seek for the perfect pieces in the mountains of clothes, shoes, bags and then help you carry all and take turns in the dressing room, or assist you by rotating the garnments while you are inside to avoid having to go out and endlessly queve again...

Those who go only to peek or as inexperienced companions.. (some men and some women who hate shopping) will say that we are drama queens, however if you are going with the purpose of taking advantage of the sale season to the fullest, you need to have a strategy.
Starting with what you'll wear.

A Universal rule dictates that if you have intentions to go shopping, avoid heels.
They'll be just a barrier between you and someone else arriving first to that beautiful dress.
They are neither a good choice when you're about to try on new shoes, because they make you look ridiculous while you take them off, jump on one foot and juggle with everything you're carrying to finally get the pair in question on.
A pair of ballerinas, slippers or sneackers are the
perfect allies, you can slipp them on an off in seconds. Keep everything else simple too.
A pair of comfortable jeans that you can easily put on and off, to maximize your time in the dressing room and a basic sweater or shirt. If you are one of those, like me, who carries a tote all the time,
limitate a satchel with your essentials (wallet, phone, lipstick and mirror) for no exra weight while running from side to side from the store.

Now we've covered the basics, take a deep breath and buy with a cool head.
Low prices and beautiful silhouettes have the power to make us loose our minds in seconds, because "it's SOOO PREETTY AND SOO CHEAP", but if we bought everything with a red tag we would go bankrupt.
First visit all stores, even those you thought you'd never walk in.
I went to one that seemed completely horrible last weekend and ended up walking out with the sweetest deal on shoes. REALLY SWEET! like I could have bought 10 for the prize of an average pair.
The shoes have good quality,  are beautiful, trendy and comfortable.
Give yourself a chance to see all the stores, try on clothes and then go back and buy, so you do not regret your past purchases or spend your entire budget after the first two shops.
BASIC principle of shopping: DON'T BUY JUST FOR THE SAKE OF BUYING!
This is a good time to re-read the post on HOW TO GO SHOPPING? to see which are the parameter that make a garnment investment worthy according to your body type, trendness and personal style.
Think about what you desperately need, like basics. Stack on them; denim, neautrals, rain coats, Winter coats, leather pants, etc...
And then remember that everything is about how you make the most out of your budget.
Use it to your advantage, and think about what's best or worth the most... renewing your closet or buying a bag on Net-a-porter.
Both are completely cool and understandable just think about your investment in the future so you end up happy.
I love finding shoes and dresses with HUGE discounts, and ending up with tons of bags, new things and combinations to start next season with the right foot. I feel like I might be too young and experimental to invest my entire budget in a pair of designer heels or bag that I will FOR SURE not take with me too school.... :) (Too worthy)
If you are looking for cool old pieces like rocker shirts from Guns & Roses or vintage chanel earrings, go to thrift shopps. Nothing cooler tan actually finding something original from those times. Of course, scout until you find something up you alley.. never buy things too worn out.. because the "cool" factor dissapears immediately!
As a last advice... think about your current mood... it's great to go with friends or your mom and chat, play in the dressing room and have a blast. But we girls need some alone time from time to time (well, that was redundant) and shopping is mostly therapeutic, so ... either way... enjoy!

Very appropriate shopping jam...
Canción apropiada para comprar...

Xoxo, Roberta W.P.F
