Tulle Fetish

fe·tish

noun \ˈfe-tish also ˈfē-\
- a strong and unusual need or desire for something
- a need or desire for an object, body part, or activity for sexual excitement
- an object that is believed to have magical powers
Redundant would be to paraphrase what tulle represents, but just in case you need clarification: No, tulle doesn't awake sexual desire... Unless you are a bit of a freaky fashion enthusiast (In that case I don't judge) Tulle is more like a triggers of dreams, the reason of a craving for something simply fabulous and one third of the trio shaped by non others than glitter and feathers, better known as wonders one must possess just for the sake of it.

There was a time in my life I like to call B.C. (Before Chic)
It was a dark time before my sense of style had even start to develop where I despised the fabric. It resembled nothing more than the squeaky ballerina girls from my class who me, as a horsewoman focussed on other hobbys and likings, couldn't stand. So, many years had to pass by for me to start  obsessing about it.
When the Fashion revolution hit the streets it was a big surprise to see tulle skirts running wild down the concrete jungle paired with nothing but mundane sneakers and common denim shirts. It's a magical Era where such beauties can go out to the sun on a daily basis adding that magical essence for so long reserved only for the most special occasions.
Many designers master the art of bringing such luxurious cloth to life but only a few make us drop dead and wake up in heaven while doing so.
Last season Giambattista Valli gained this recognition with waterfall skirts of tulle in degrade only to reafirm it's skill set this time, with pieces that build and deconstruct the material in the most intriguing ways, sometimes even featuring the terrific tree mentioned earlier in this post, proving how trully marvellous desire may look like.

¡NO!

"I am minimalist. I like saying the most with the least" - Bob Newhart
Two or Three years ago statements and polished looks of pointy pumps and skinny jeans had their peak, however 2014 brought hit with a wave of messy hair, baggy pants, varsity jackets, sporty crop tops, sneakers and caps that triggered the rapid progression into what we commonly know as Normcore. Suddenly getting all dressed up is seen as uncool leading people in the search of achieving that ooze of style without even trying.
Normcore has two tendencies. The first one is based on sporty accents where sneakers are the favourite option to supply stilettos giving sequined skirts and even camel coats a completely unexpected twist. Caps do the same to blazers just as varsity jackets do flirty dresses. The catch is to maintain balance between sport and glossy. The second one is focussed on Minimalism, the use of clean lines with very few complements, giving fashion lover an opportunity to focus on different structures, colors and avantgarde silhouettes.  I've been craving a sleeveless blazer like Olivia Pope craves wine and Popcorn after a rough day (Yes, I’m obsessed with SCANDAL) meaning A LOT! So, the other day while scattering SALES (with a very cold objective mind of course) I came across this beauty.
You can obviously understand how I wasn’t going to pass such a great opportunity, right? Regarding my bag, I went for an epitome of architecture: matching colors with different proportions and textures discretely playing the role of statement. The t-shirt neutral with a little geometric double charm to keep it casual, finally paired with  marsala booties as an ode of this year's Pantone. I think that the foundation of such a look lies in the lines. The vest, bag and booties are quite simple, yet add a very distinctive sense of style to the look. That way one dresses casual and still looks polished.

The World According to Karl

12:00 AM Prueba 0 Comments

My admiration for this man, this mysterious man who has spent years hiding behind a pair of dark glasses, seeing the world without being seen, dates back many years.
Master of the seam, has the ability to break paradigms and modernize the classic without losing its essence, and for someone like me who dreamed about being a very successful fashion designer was an enviable quality as each collection under his command is something completely different, unexpected, fabulous and elegant.
The most curious thing about Karl is that he is not only an extremely talented designer, but through the years has become a brand, an icon, the uncle of all fashion freaks and one of the most multifaceted people in the industry. As a well stablished designer, photographer and filmmaker I would call him the cornucopia of art in the fashion scene.
This book "The World According To Karl" is one that I love, because it summarizes all his iconic quotes impregnated with his characteristic attitude, a little proud, never modest, with a pinch of sincereness and a base of confidence that we love about him.
Don't you love to read phrases perfectly describing your mood or simply inspiring?
That is what every single one of this sayings does to me. Some of them are just too good to be truth and I've decided to share them with you! Hope you like them!
Karl On Life
"My autobiography? I don't have to write it. I'm living it!"
"Psychoanalisis! First of all, it kills creativity. Secondly, if you are honest with yourself then you know all the questions and the answers."
Karl on Fashion
"Trendy is the last stage before tacky"
"In Fashion you have to break something to make it again, to love what you've hated and hate what you've loved"
"Fashion is neither moral or amoral but can boost your moral"
"The world of Fashion is ephemeral, dangerous and unfair"
Karl on Style
"What is style? It starts with breaking away from convention, smashing accepted reality"
"If you don't have an elegant phyque, the most elegant dress won't change that. A pheasanyt can be madly elegant, and a very rich person may look like a pint pot"
"jogging pants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of life, you wear jogging pants"
Karl on Karl
"I am a black diamond, unfaceted. Black diamonds are rare, hard to cut and therefore uncommercial"
"I've gone beyond ego"
"I have a client mentality, I like to shop"
Karl on Chanel
"A touch of humor and a bit of disrespect; that's what a legend need to survive"
Karl on Luxury
"Luxury is a discipline"
"Often these days, luxury is expensive goodie bought by nobodies who don't have a luxury life"
"Books are a hard-bound drug on which you can't overdose"
Karl on being in Shape
"I want to be a chic coat hanger"

Chronicles of NYE & Marsala!

8:01 PM Prueba 0 Comments

Hello my beloved readers!
First of all I want to officially wish you a very happy, successful, fun, sexy, productive and of course AMAZING 2015!
Remember, the things which were not useful in 2014, shouldn't cross your path this year! It's over, let go...
I had the intention to write to you from day one, however it was delusional to think that I was going to be able to do so.
For the first time in my 18 years of life, I felt like Ke$ha: Hangover and full of glitter. Seriously, I felt terrible.
To make the story short I will only tell you that I don't remember a thing after the 8th tequila shot at 2:30am and that when I woke up ten hours later, I didn't even remember how I got to bed. The glamour? Oh boy, I never lost the glamour... (Concerning the outfit)  But I spend my first day of the year wearing what Uncle Karl (Lagerfeld) would call a "sign of defeat", you know, sports wear. I woke up, put on some jogging pants and went out for soup. Yep, no comb, no makeup and no shame came between me and my intention to ease the stomache ache caused by that ethilic devilish potion I so effusively drank the night before.
But well, I had to experience that torture once to be sure when I say that I'm not going near alcohol in a very long time.
REALLY!
Leaving that aside, I guess it is proper to fill you in with the latest news in fashion.
It's no surprise that a new year brings a new color to inspire designers in their upcoming collections courtesy of Pantone. MARSALA. A warm, elegant tone that for some reason makes me think of a day in the middle eastern dunes  watching the sunset while indulging over plates of dates, figs and sun dried tomatoes. Very arabic and poetic indeed.
Needless to say after this mental voyage, I liked it. Its aura of sophistication appeals to me, maybe because I tend to dress in this shades, but this newly born love hasn't been the case for many.
The fashion industry has split ideas regarding the matter.
On the one hand they think it is a very classy color, simple to wear for every skin, easy to combine and suitable for all seasons.
Others say it reflects the world's current crisis status between revolutions, diseases, anarchy, bad economy allegedly fueled by a deep red claimed to look, in this context, like "dried blood"
Extremly philosophical point of view if you ask me, because in that case we should then start to judge previous color with this criteria. Radiant Orchid meant it was a very exotic year? A girly year? Tangerine tango was radioactivity? Emerald meant deforestation?
I think that disagreement is fine.
Many people might not like the color. But don't over judge it. It's like thinking too much about military green: looks like mud and something worse, but we love it.
What do you think?
Will you be joining the Marsala army this year? Or do you think it is to horrid following social opinions?
Let me know below!
